Designers and artists are creating furnishings and art that give bikes a new way to roll down Cool Street. ca) offers wall hooks crafted from gear sprockets, mirrors made from spoked wheels and clocks crafted from drive trains and chain rings. , designer and former bike mechanic Andy Gregg has combined his skills to make high-style furniture that's found its way into homes, hotels and restaurants. There's a chair made out of wheels, with soft rubber tires as arm rests and handlebars as the feet. A stylized table is composed of swirls of aluminum and steel rims, with the radiating spokes covered with glass. The collection's got a mix of Deco, midcentury and contemporary vibes, which make the pieces versatile. And from the Phillips Bicycle Collection of upcycled rims, pedals and frames, a fireplace screen made of welded wheels makes a functional and striking piece.

Light fixtures, sculptures, yard art, display cases, shelving, hand rails, curtain rods and furniture such as tables, beds, coffee tables, chairs and beds — you name it, Belue can customize it and fabricate it from copper, steel and aluminum. Metalworking began as a hobby 20 years ago for Belue, who is now 49. Almost five years ago, with the support of his family, he followed his dreams, left his corporate job in custom manufacturing and went to work for himself full time. Belue's first job for restaurant partner and chef William Cribb was a wrought iron frame for the restaurant's sign when it was still located on Spring Street. When the new location opened on West Main Street, Belue created an ornate sculpture for the restaurant, which is on display on the back brick wall. Belue has also made shelving for the restaurant, chafing dishes and a prep table for Cribbs Catering. The 10-foot S'mores table, with an 8-foot flame down the center for roasting the graham cracker, chocolate and marshmallow treat, debuted recently at an event at Wofford College.
