The 100,000-square-foot Hard Rock complex boasts 839 slot machines and 25 table games, as well as a bevy of non-gaming amenities. Sioux City, pop. 82,719, is the smallest U. S. city with a Hard Rock-franchised casino or hotel. (The Sioux City venue is not affiliated with Hard Rock Cafe International, which holds the rights to the famous chain of restaurants. The Sioux City property also is believed to be the first Hard Rock to incorporate a historic warehouse in its design. The $129 million project -- one of the largest capital investments in Sioux City history -- included extensive renovations to a four-story structure built in 1906 for a hardware wholesaler.
ALBANY — Kris Barnes seems mighty calm for a man about to be inundated with questions associated with setting up hundreds of cattle pens, dozens of picnic tables and several entertainment stages for the upcoming Linn County Fair, scheduled for... “We have three full-time staff members and we hire 16 temporary workers,” Barnes said. “We also use the Linn County Sheriff’s Office crew to set up the hundreds of metal livestock pens in the 4-H and FFA barn. Barnes said fulltime county staffers are crew leader Joel Sannan, Drew Hochstetler and Don Sparks. Workers are responsible for setting up and taking down three stages, siting vendor booths in the proper areas, and cleaning up the grounds and concrete areas. “Temporary help comes on the last week of June and work until the last week of July,” Barnes said.
