SAM Byram and Chris Wood skied penalties over the bar as ten-man Leeds United crashed out of the Capital One Cup at the first hurdle after a 4-2 loss on penalties at Doncaster Rovers. SAM Byram and Chris Wood skied penalties over the bar as ten-man Leeds United crashed out of the Capital One Cup at the first hurdle after a 4-2 loss on penalties at Doncaster Rovers. Leeds looked to be on course for victory in an action-packed first half after Lewis Cook’s first goal for the club but Scott Wootton then took out Cedric Evina for a penalty converted by Andy Williams before Cook was handed a straight red card for... In came Saturday’s goalscoring hero Mirco Antenucci for Chris Wood in the line striker role, with Souleymane Doukara taking the right wing slot from Sam Byram. And after an even opening ten minutes it was one of those players brought into the side that instigated the night’s opening goal after 14 minutes.
That piece of history is the wooden case of a Waterbury Clock Co. regulator (pendulum) wall clock that hung on the wall in the P. L. Loeper Jewelry Store at 935 Centre St. The clock mechanism is long gone, but the case is about 36 inches tall and... The clock face would have been 12 inches in diameter. The regulator clock, a more accurate version time-wise of a standard pendulum clock, was rewound about every eight days with a key, which was stored in the case. The glass cover over the lower half of the clock showed "P. H. Loeper, Leading Jeweler. Ashland, PA. ". Patricia "Pat" Monaghan, Ashland, remembers seeing the clock case when her family moved into the home in 1954 when she was 5 years old. "I remember when I would go into the attic and see it in the corner," Monaghan said. It had no clock in it. I don't know why I didn't toss it. ". It was only recently that Monaghan thought about donating the clock case to the society. "I began cleaning my attic out, saw it, and thought that I should ask Adam (Bernodin) if the society would want it. It was of no use to me," she said. Bernodin took the offer of the clock to society historian James "Jim" Klock, who gratefully accepted the treasure.
Barnes and Speights set up just inside the arc on the right side, which seemingly telegraphs that Curry will run from the right corner through two screens and look for a pass at the top of the arc. Curry indeed curls around the top -- with the bigger, slower Quincy Pondexter trailing him by a full step -- and Thompson simultaneously heads across the paint to set a screen for Barnes. Golden State's "Plan B" if Curry didn't get open would have been to look for Thompson at the top of the arc. The hope was that his screen for Barnes would relax and/or confuse the defense, allowing Thompson to pop out to the top of the key with the help of a screen from Speights. This action is called " screen the screener " because Thompson sets the first screen and then immediately gets a screen set for him. The left image shows Thompson setting the screen for Barnes. Green's pass to Curry isn't even that difficult, as Dante Cunningham is angled to defend the top of the arc rather than the near sideline. Three defenders remained on the weakside, accounting for their men, and Cunningham didn't rush to double or trap Curry out of apparent respect for Green's three-point shooting ability.
