In cities where land used to build houses, skyscrapers, roadways and parking lots trumps dirt to farm. You don’t see food producers. Zip for farmers. But in rural areas, where there is plenty of space and less competition for creating large house lot subdivisions, shopping malls, there is migration happening. I hear from more and more younger wannabe micro farmers that are savvy. Honest rewarding back to the land work. Creating wealth from the farm dirt. Kit Thomas is a Mohawk from Akwesasne, she returned to her home town from Roanoke, Virginia. Her biggest challenge was meeting her father for the first time. If she had met him when she was a teenager she probably “would have flipped him the bird”, Kit said laughing, finger in the air. Her dad was “cool” with her in a sense that he accepts her just the way she is. At the time of her transformation Kit was working a manager at a pet food store and doing her artwork around the clock. She woke up one day and said she no longer wanted to do her 9-5 job. Kit was breaking the rules and felt free. Her alter ego and drag show performer braved the stage for the very first time. A friend called her up and said “Hey, Kit I have one spot open for the drag show. Kit is a self-proclaimed ham and does not shy away from the spotlight. Her alter ego Hunter was a sassy, confident, rough and rugged persona known for infamous performances as boy band heartthrobs from New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys. What is Kit’s creative process.
I stumble daily (often) but grateful that He is not done with the good work He has begun in me. I am ever humbled that the Lord of the earth died for me so that I can have the hope of spending eternity with him. He is a wonderful husband and father who loves us and works hard for our family. In 2009 the Lord stirred our hearts to follow Him on the amazing journey of adoption. 2011 we brought our son home from Ethiopia. Ever since our hearts are moved to be a voice for the orphans.
