Fever pitch: A thermometer that's really smart
NEW YORK — Tech reviewers are a resilient bunch. We can't let a little thing like being under the weather stop us from performing our duties. So because I've been wrestling with a bad case of the sniffles and nasty cough — not unlike millions of ...

“Something weird is happening,” I told Eric. I was racing down the end of the hallway to look at a defunct thermostat that now serves only as a thermometer. When he came down I had another thermometer in my hands. ” I think to myself “it’s 45 degrees in here. I try not to look at the thermometer too much. But I pulled it out and brought it to the living room to double check our thermostat which was reading 54 degrees. “Something weird is happening,” I repeated. Eric just laughed at me and looked out the window which had formed a thin layer of ice on the inside. It was just -14 degrees F outside. But the dehumidifier was already empty and the number on the display read 99%. It would have been raining down there if that was right. You can understand my skepticism of digital displays. Also all of our clocks are wrong. Eric thinks this helps him to not be late. The clock in our bedroom is 15 minutes fast. The one in the car is 20 minutes fast. The one on the thermostat is 10 minutes fast.
we’re talking mobile apps and tiny game platforms held by a strap on your wrist wherever you go. And yes, I guess it also tells time while you’re at it. That’s where it all started. More recent models also run a mobile operating system and act very close to what you would expect from lower end smartphones – they are just as capable as becoming portable media players, whether we’re talking audio, video or radio, and can... Of course, you cannot expect the same performance you would get in a 4GB of RAM, 2. 8 GHz processor smartphone because in the end, the smartwatch isn’t here to replace your mobile phone, but it’s a very nifty, albeit situational device. A device that probably got its inspiration from the original fitness trackers (and maybe the iPod Shuffle had something to do with it as well) is now a powerful, upgraded version of it. Main Features of Smartwatches Also known as a sport watch,... Other features that might be included in a performant smartwatch vary from cameras, SD cards, microphone, modem, all the sensors that you would ever wish for – accelerometer, thermometer, altimeter, barometer, GPS navigation, compass – all...
