A score of years ago or so—when our grandchildren were children—Barbara was a regular reader of one of the papers in the City News Group trio, and she became a fan of my weekly column. I still won’t use an alarm clock (as I do not now), and I will still spend the last moments before I drift off with nothing electronic going except a soft bedside light—to illuminate the pages as I read myself off to dreamland. Here’s what I’ve been reading lately, in no particular order of love: by Kent Haruf. If you read novels for the sheer joy of discovering characters, read this book. I tried to read it slowly as it is not terribly long, and I fell in love with the characters so immediately, I never wanted it to end—and when I finished, I couldn’t start another book as I missed my newfound friends. Love, love, loved it. I want every reading friend to read this book, and I might have to guilt some people into it. (Barb, I put this one first as I really think you would love it. ) , by Harry Cauley. I am proud to say that actor, writer, director Harry Cauley is my friend, and we became friends because, well, I was a gushing fan girl over his novel, Bridie and Finn , and his memoir,.
It's Tuesday, January 12 and the 182nd anniversary of the death of legendary French chef Marie-Antoine Carême who died in Paris on this date in 1833. Known as "the cook of kings and the king of cooks," he is widely seen as the father of French... So yes, that cream sauce, those fanciful cakes, and those decorative centerpieces in classic French cookbooks can be traced back to his inventive mind and almost scientific understanding of food, time, and temperature. In other news, a new nacho restaurant has opened in California. and a new bacon alarm clock is probably the best thing to come out of CES.
I thought it was about time to do an updated 50 facts about me from 1 year ago. With inspiration of some questions from Taylor R’s youtube video that I could really relate to. I thought, well, why not. It’s always interesting to look over the years at old photos, and see how much we’ve changed our makeup looks. 2) One of my pet peeve is people who are constantly negative and like to gossip. When people talk about other people in an unkind way, it really brings themselves down more so. I’ve learned to surround myself with more positive people. 3) Being a morning person has always been in my body clock. When I was younger, I was often called the little alarm clock (小鬧鐘). A few include: Shaaanxo , fashionista804 , Bubzvlogz , Carli Bybel , Shani Grimmond , meejmuse , Wengie , Sally Jo , newapplearial , Dolly CL and Taylor R テイラー I also like looking at some Ted talks, Cute Videos and Vlogs from time to time. 5) Having a clean living space is really important to me. I’m a bit of a neat freak, and prefer having a space that’s cleaned, minimal and simple. Having good storage is good, to hide a lot of unused things that can look messy.
