CLEVELAND, Ohio -- LeBron James shook the hand of each Golden State player who was on the floor when he exited Game 6 with about 10 seconds left Tuesday night, one final, shining moment for him in a personally brilliant series. James was serenaded by a loud ovation from the crowd, but the disgust and disappointment was already setting in. Cleveland was on its way to a 105-97 loss , and Golden State was heading for champagne popping and its first NBA championship in 40... James turned in the best individual Finals series performance statistically in history , and for what. For James, that's four Finals losses out of six and two in a row, though his latest loss can hardly be blamed on him. James already owns two titles, but the latest one that slipped away weighed on him heavily. "I always look at it, would I rather not make the playoffs or lose in The Finals. I'm almost starting to be like I'd rather not even make the playoffs than to lose in The Finals. It would hurt a lot easier if I just didn't make the playoffs and I didn't have a shot at it. ". James iced his aching joints one last time after the game, a towel draped over his head and a small battalion of Cavaliers' PR, security, and James'... Bill Russell, the legendary, 11-time NBA champion, waited to speak with James in the hallway outside the Cavs' locker room.
– Kyrie Irving and the Cleveland Cavaliers have been down this weary road countless times in the last month. The team's All-Star point guard suffered yet another setback on his troublesome left knee at the most inopportune juncture in overtime of Game 1 of the NBA Finals. Irving was back to playing like his old self. He registered 23 points, seven rebounds, six assists, four steals and two blocks in 43 minutes of play. And his chase-down block of Stephen Curry's casual layup attempt late in regulation was an extraordinary play. "It's a little disappointing, frustrating because coming in I felt amazing," Irving said. With two minutes remaining in the contest, Irving slipped and fell as he tried to stop on a dime from accelerating against Klay Thompson. "I don't know what I felt, but obviously it didn't feel right," he said. It was a quick pinch and I could still feel what was going on in my knee, and this time I kind of knew it was a little bit different than the other times. Irving wasn't able to resume play and he hobbled his way to the locker room. He said he doesn't know exactly what happened to his knee. Following the team's 108-100 loss , after addressing the media, Irving sulked at his locker.
After peaceful protests resumed over the death of Freddie Gray Tuesday, Baltimore's new weeklong, citywide curfew was met by a small, defiant group of people facing off with helmeted police officers in West Baltimore. Police said just before midnight that 10 people had been arrested citywide, including seven for breaking curfew and two for looting. The new rule — which will be in effect for at least seven days, from 10 p. m. to 5 a. m. — was announced by Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake after violent riots and looting broke out for hours Monday afternoon and evening. The curfew applies to everyone in the city, though exceptions are in place for emergency personnel, students traveling for classes and people commuting to or from work for essential functions. The mayor's office said that "non-essential business operations" should be suspended during the hours the curfew is in effect. Restaurants, entertainment venues and bars should be closed between those hours, and patrons should plan enough time to travel before the curfew takes effect. Employees traveling to or from work during the curfew should have a valid photo ID and a document from their employer stating their need to work during curfew hours, along.
