Today I am thrilled to share with you the reveal of our living room. It's a room we spend time in daily and quite possibly, my favorite room in the house. I love that we can sit with friends or family and talk for hours or relax and watch The West Wing :) We've put a lot of love into this room and it has truly made our house feel like a home. This room has come a long way over the past four years: we replaced the furniture from college days, painted the coffee brown walls, designed and built the bookcases ourselves, and refinished a few Craigslist finds. I'll share the details of our projects soon, but for now wanted to give you a peek into my favorite room in the house :) Enjoy. Wall Color: Behr Ashes. Trim/Bookcase Color: Sherwin Williams Antique White. Rug: Rugs USA (Beaumont Adileh in ivory). Pillows: crisscross: Ballard Designs. Large Silver Urn: Pottery Barn. Clock: Passed down from a family member. Small clock: Pottery Barn. Round endtable: passed down from a family member. Urns on fireplace: antique store. Gallery Wall Frames: Michaels. No wall is complete without a wall-clock. Wall-clocks were originally designed as an alternative for people who found that large grandfather clocks take up too much space. Since the clock is displayed on the wall, it does not take up any floor space in the room. The basic function of the wall-clock is to tell time. There are various types of wall clocks available in the market, each with its own unique features. The three main types of wall-clocks are pendulum, quartz and digital. The traditional pendulum wall-clock makes use of the pendulum as a regulator of time. The pendulum is a weight that hangs from the clock and swings at a certain pace to indicate time with the help of the clock. A typical pendulum wall-clock consists of the face, springs or weights, and the pendulum. The traditional pendulum clocks are key-wound clocks, meaning they are not powered by batteries. Quartz wall-clocks are low-maintenance clocks and they make use of quartz movement to tell the time. Digital wall-clocks are electronically operated and they tell time through numbers displayed on screens.

I have written before on the clothes worn during the time of my trilogy, the first half of 15th century in France. the little padded pillows under their dresses to give the fashionable "rounded look" to their stomachs. the long pointed sleeves hanging almost to the ground often edged with fur, and the men's "hose" – what we call tights today – often with either leg in a different color. Such courtiers may remind us of Walt Disney's characters living in moated castles with round pointed roofs and shuttered windows – but what did they eat and how.
