Andrew Spivey and Nick de la Torre break down how quarterback Treon Harris and the offense did for the Florida Gators, plus they tell you what worked and didn’t work for the Gators defense. Andrew and Nick end the podcast by telling you what is ahead for the Florida Gators and why Gators fans shouldn’t be upset over the loss to LSU on Saturday night. Nick, it was a great atmosphere on Saturday night in Death Valley, a great football game. Probably one of the better football games of the year, 35-28 LSU comes out and defeats Florida, but Florida had the opportunity the last two drives of the game. Granted the last drive of the game was from the 10 with only 90 seconds to go in the game, but Florida was in position to tie the football game or possibly win the football game. What Florida did, to me was prove that they belong. I think both of us have said we think this team is a year early in the whole rebuilding process that McElwain is going through, and what they showed last night in a matchup of Top 10 teams is that they deserve that ranking. There’s a couple plays from the referees, a couple plays that didn’t go their way that kind of changed the complexion of the game, but I think what Florida showed last night is that they’ve got their confidence back. Florida belongs on the field in games like that, in Top 10 games. I hate to use the referees as an excuse, and it wasn’t the entirety of the game. The no fumble call was a turning point in the football game where all momentum was at Florida, Florida gets the fumble, clearly picks it up in bounds.
Andrew Spivey is also joined by Nick de la Torre to get his take on Florida Gators head coach Jim McElwain’s press conference, plus how he thinks Treon Harris can do on Saturday in Baton Rouge. To finish off the podcast Andrew asked both Nick and Bartley what they would do to stop the LSU Tigers offense on Saturday and what the game plan should be for the Florida Gators. As you can tell in the tone of voice, it’s been a bad Monday, and I can’t even be alone for this Monday. I have to bring in guest after guest. I’m lining them up. Nick de la Torre, I got to bring his Cuban self on this podcast. I’ll turn my attention to my first guest, Nick de la Torre. I feel like you’re just bringing me on to make you feel better today on a dark Monday for Florida fans. I feel like that makes everything better. Nick: You can find someone to rub your belly. I feel like we witnessed this a year ago with the Treon thing. You and I, I texted you this morning around 9:30 with a weird off the wall text that I got from a source up in Notre Dame, and we had talked about it for a while. Then when McElwain pushed back his press conference things just didn’t sit well with me. I felt like something weird was going on. Sure enough, it is. That was an emotional press conference. I’m not going to lie, very emotional from Will and from Coach Mac. I think it really showed the care Coach Mac has, giving Will a hug. I think we should applaud Florida.
There is this animated gif where UFC Fighter Rampage Jackson is kicking, punching and absolutely destroying a door. After watching the LSU Game replay I really felt like imitating that. There were lots of missed opportunities in a great effort. Guys should not hang their heads nor feel bad about losing to the No. 5 team in the country but it sure would have been nice beating them. There is this thing called #CONTEXT and #PERSPECTIVE we all must struggle to hold onto. “Men, I want you to watch this film and think of what happens if we do the little things. We are those things away from beating the No. 5 team and the probable Heisman trophy winner in their house. ” Outstanding effort from the guys in a close loss but still feel like giving that door a once over. Away with the touchy feely, rational, positive stuff and to why I really want a go at that door. (Les Miles Trick plays) THE GUYS NICK NAME IS “THE MAD HATTER. Leslie Miles is wildly known for doing less with more and calling trick plays. Trick plays and underperforming with great athletes is what he does. I’m sitting here watching them get set up for the field goal thinking “ End man on the line “SEEMS” to be playing safe, we should be good on a fake. ” I look up the end man rushes and the friggin kicker is running in the end.
