DENVER | The Bremer County Historical Society has a collection of items from ... - Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier

WATERLOO | After less than two months out of prison for robbing a priest in 1997, a Waterloo man is back behind bars. Sanders, 56, was detained a few blocks from the bank following a brief foot chase, according to Waterloo police. According to police, Sanders walked into Bank Iowa, 330 E. Fourth St. , at about 9:10 a. m. and fled toward Franklin Street with an undisclosed amount of cash. Using a description provided by bank workers, police stopped Sanders near the First Presbyterian Church on Franklin Street. Court records show that Sanders has a string of prior robbery convictions and had been recently released from prison. He had just finished serving about 17 years for robbing a priest and a church secretary at St. John's Catholic Church on Mulberry Street at gunpoint in January 1997. Court records indicate he came to the church seeking food vouchers and then... The church robbery came just months after Sanders had been released from prison for robbing a woman at the former Grover's Game Room on Walnut Street in 1990. Carlos Huertas wins IndyCar Series race at Grand Prix of Houston - mySanAntonio.com (blog)

HOUSTON – Rookie driver Carlos Huertas of Bogota, Columbia won his first-ever Verizon IndyCar Series race on Saturday at the Shell and Pennzoil Grand Prix of Houston presented by the Greater Houston Honda Dealers Association at NRG Park. The 23-year old driver started 19th on the 23-car starting grid in his No. 18 Dale Coyne Racing and worked his way through the field. Huertas caught a lucky break when the race ended under caution due to an imposed time limit. Prior to the start of the doubleheader race a thunderstorm drenched the 1. 6-mile road course and Verizon IndyCar Series officials were forced to change the scheduled 90-lap race to an event that would have a 1 hour and 50 minute time limit. The races are so long, you always have a chance to win if you do the right things at the right time. Huertas’ victory was the fourth win for Dale Coyne Racing. A late caution occurred on Lap 77 when Sebastian Saavedra spun on the track in Turn 4. Only three minutes remained on the clock as the field followed the pace car and just as the race was about to restart, Graham Rahal collided with the back end... Juan Pablo Montoya finished second and rookie Carlos Munoz was third to complete a Columbian podium sweep, which prior to today has never happened in the IndyCar Series. Montoya’s finish was a season best and second -straight podium finish after finishing third at Texas Motor Speedway earlier this month.
