Hi-Res Audio Hijinx: Why Only Some Albums Truly Rock
This downloadable music resembles what's sold on iTunes—except that it contains up to 10 times more data than what used to be the gold standard for audio quality: CD. By capturing a wider range of frequencies, say acolytes, hi-res albums sound more ...

My first personal computer: the Apple II
I'd read about computers in junior high in the early 60s. I even played with an analog computer at school. But computers were too expensive and rare for anything more in the 1960s. Fast forward to the last semester of college. I did a computer mapping ...

Sony Ericsson C905a
It has profiles and vibrate for calls/alarms/messages. The Nokia N86 NAM (US) version isn't available as of this writing, so we can't compare that 8 megapixel shooter, but clearly the C905a wins in the low light arena since it has a Xenon flash ...

We have a number of musical selections this year, courtesy of Nuclear Blast Records. While I still insist that genre labels in the music industry can frequently be misdirecting, whether they lock people into a genre or lock them out, they can sometimes be reasonable descriptors of the style of many of a bands songs. The label most frequently applied to several of the following artists is Symphonic Metal, which may be one of the more understandable labels around. No matter how much fans of either group might react against that, I feel that both camps can find something to enjoy in the following groups. One of the groups prominent in this genre is Dutch band EPICA , founded by Mark Jansen and fronted by Simone Simons, it is frequently thrown into the larger pool called Female Fronted Metal. Rather than disputing this branding, the sextet embraced it, releasing their album The Classical Conspiracy (ASIN: B001SWGOQ8, Item number: 100009, $14. 99) in 2009. This album was recorded live in 2008 at the opera festival held in Miskolc,... This was released as a double CD, with one CD featuring EPICA songs and the other more symphonic performances. 2Blu-ray + 3CD-Digi, $43. 99.
How often have I lamented, and perhaps you too- photo buff, import phone maven, that our US carriers never get the good stuff. AT&T has surprised us with a little piece of former import goodness, the Sony Ericsson C905a with an 8. 1 megapixel camera and autofocus lens. The C905a is a slider phone, and beyond the impressive imaging capabilities it has a GPS that works with AT&T Navigator, an FM radio, 3G HSDPA on AT&T's bands and Europe's 2100MHz band, the same media player found on many Sony Ericsson Walkman... That's significantly cheaper than the import version which lacks US 3G. What's missing on the AT&T version vs. the import. WiFi has been disabled (those of you who like to flash your ROM will be happy to hear users on the Net have said that they've flashed the C905a with other firmware to bring back WiFi). The import version has a YouTube player with upload capabilities and that's gone from the AT&T version. Sony Ericsson's standard email client has been replaced by AT&T's Mobile Email, so Exchange support is gone and you can only get email from a pre-set list of providers (Yahoo, AOL, BellSouth,.
When the LG Chocolate (VX8500) came out on Verizon, folks who like slider phones got to enjoy a music-centric device that had a silky-smooth surface and innovative touch-screen music and phone controls. Several flavors of Chocolate later, Verizon is now offering the flip version of the music phone that features similar sexy looks and strong music capabilities. Yes, you also have the touch-sensitive music controls on the VX8600, but a more standard navigation pad. Those who have been following the LG Chocolate should be familiar with the LG VX8600 specs: EV-DO support, 1. 3 megapixel camera, GPS for use with VZ Navigator, built-in Bluetooth, MicroSD card slot and integrated music features that include easy... The LG VX8600 is a dual digital phone operating on the 800/1900 MHz CDMA networks. It’s offered by Verizon in the US and supports EV-DO for fast data and Verizon’s V Cast service. The slider Chocolate was a big hit, but if you prefer some thinner and in a flip phone style, the LG VX8600 is even better. The casing on the VX8600 is very similar to the VX8500 Chocolate with its shiny smooth surface in black with chrome accents and edges.
