Pam, I don’t know how many times I’ve looked your posts featuring the reader’s kitchens mentioned above. For many years, we owned a dear little mid-30’s bungalow that desperately needed some kitchen love. And then we had to move to another province, and now we’re in a lovely 1945 minimal traditional that, again, needs some help in the kitchen department. I’m slowly gearing up for a retro refit – my budget is microscopic, so I’m taking things verrrry slowly as I find what I need second hand. Anyway, all this to say – thank you so much for Retro Renovation. It’s cheered me up through some very difficult and stressful times, and the posts you’ve featured of reader’s kitchens (from the 1930s -1940s especially) are like old friends. I can’t find the “swirly” marble-look in anything else, but I had a bad experience with Marmoleum Click in my bathroom and am leery of installing it in a kitchen. There is an Amana range that could look like a 1940s design in a way. com/cooking/ranges/gas_ranges/5_1_cu__ft__gas_oven_range_with_sealed_gas_burners_agr4230bab. My sister bought me that red mixer to go with my red chambers stove. Love this look but I went with a more country look.
Lots of random goodness to post about today. First of all, I want to chit chat about some recent hauls. I have been hitting the shops hard lately, as I am trying to restock my shop and stock up at the space I am renting, LARGO ECLECTIC MALL, thankfully, my husband has been on vacation this week, which has allowed me more time to get things done. I figure 2 backup pieces in my garage at any time, no room for more. Here is what is currently in the shop, this is while is was stacked up in my garage. Two mid century gravel wall art. They will be heading off to the mall next week. Everything was perfect, but it had this ugly floral design on the top drawer fronts. I didn't want to paint the whole thing, because it was perfect aged and had wonderful pale blue details. This cookbook was a garage sale find, she had some other vintage cookbooks that I also wanted to get, but then I heard the old bat who was hosting the sale, yell at some other customer who asked for a deal. Lady this aint Macys, if you cant make a deal, don't have a garage sale, or at least don't yell at people that ask for a deal, for crissakes. I kinda just wanted to put everything back, but I really wanted this one book at least, so I paid her and got the hell out.
