confirms that a cool bedroom makes for the best sleep. Throughout the course of a day, your body temperature rises and falls, and that pattern is tied to your sleep cycle. If your bedroom is too warm, it can interfere with this natural temperature cycle and make you restless. While most experts agree the magic number is somewhere around 65 degrees, they’ll also tell you that whatever makes you the most comfortable is going to give you the best sleep, so experiment with temperatures between 60 and 72 degrees. Lowering the lights triggers your brain to produce melatonin, the sleep-inducing hormone. More importantly, make your bedroom a blue light-free zone. So choose low-wattage light bulbs with a color temperature of 3000 kelvins or less (look for ones with the words “soft” and “warm” on the box), and keep computers, cell phones, televisions, and digital clocks out of the bedroom. Even rolling over and catching a glimpse of the clock can impact the quality of your sleep. Stash your alarm clock away in a drawer and try sleeping with an eye mask to.
The first thing I want to ask you to do is accept that every child is independently unique, and yet still created “in the IMAGE of GOD”. Secondly, as parents, we need to be aware of our children's influence on other children, and vice versa. Our children are developing reputations (often at a very early age) that will impact their adulthood in a profound way. Part of their reputation, is tied to their digital footprint. So…kids are all different, and they influence each other. Before we dive into this overview, understand that as we speak new “apps” are being developed and devious people, (often teens) are inventing ways to exploit existing “apps”…so perhaps more important than grasping every detail is this concept:. AS A PARENT, GOD’S DESIGN CALLS FOR ME TO TRAIN MY CHILD. Make time to do the things mentioned in session one. Be bold in random questions, technology checks, and setting appropriate boundaries based on your child’s age. PART ONE: Games (I am intentionally not discussing TV, Movies, Netflix…including the marketing grip that easily grips young minds). Games, especially internet based, ad driven, chat enabled games are HIGHLY addictive. Approve every game, and every game site. Limit their game time. Do it by requiring other options…music, reading, drawing (even Adobe illustrator or Photoshop is better than gaming). Watch the game rating systems.
Patrick woke abruptly, but not via the aid of his antagonistic alarm clock. The clock stood silently next to a small brown plastic canister of pills and half pint glass partially filled with water on his bedside table. The metallic din however was amplified and reverberated into Patrick’s muggy head. His default parasympathetic nervous system setting was set far too high and he could feel the adrenaline rush coursing every nerve in his body. A lime green digital display was brought into focus between his bed sheets, like a kind of alien heliograph technology that was being used millions of light years away in a distant galaxy. He sharpened his attention to the reading on the timepiece – 06:32. That was strange indeed he thought, the postman didn’t usually arrive till gone 8. Who could be visiting him at this time of the morning. Since Patrick became an almost recluse, a consequence of his mental health condition, he had little friends and visitors were non-existent. His extreme condition meant that any kind of social situation could bring on a panic attack. He was a victim of generalized panic disorder and mild depression to put the cherry on the cake.
