While the snow just about everywhere else has melted, the back of our complex never gets sun, so we still have two feet of it out back - it's entertaining to watch Hans walk across it and then sink in. ) 12:00: At the beginning of the semester,... Well, I like my food too much to just eat box food for the next four months, and I'd rather feel satisfied than study hungry, so we've been making an attempt to still eat good food. Today's lunch consisted of spaghetti squash (baked in the oven for an hour and then pan fried with a little bit of spaghetti sauce) and meatballs. I do a bit of kitchen cleaning while it cooks so the place isn't a mess after we eat. 4:45: After lab every week, Caitlin and I have been making it a point to go to the gym since we're already in work out clothes ( with matching shoes ), and half way to the gym. It's really just our time to catch up and do something other than sit at at desk. CR and I usually stay at his apartment on the weekends because I have a desk there (instead of sharing the kitchen table at my house), and he lives alone, so we usually just hole away to get work done there.
Yesterday was a long day The kind of day that I normally wouldn’t write about, but precisely because it had been that type of day, I found myself sitting on my bed bored, uninspired and writing. I really shouldn’t have been (writing, that is) but there you go. I think that the main reason I was so bummed was that I didn’t study yesterday. Alarm clock 5. 30am. snooze. 55am (at least ten minutes later than initially planned) push-ups: sets of 32, no… 35 (this was decided halfway through the first set ) done with that by about 6. 15am. weights: 10km dumbells aren’t much but when you get to about 28 of a set 35... Done with all of that by about 6. 50am. Kitchen, fix fruit and cereal quick, fix some lunch for work, quick. Shower, then seated at my desk/dining table at 7. 15am, quick breakfast. 05am I parked my car in the doctor’s parking lot at Dora Nginza hospital (actually on the grass next to the lot along with a bunch of other cars as there aren’t enough parking bays for everyone employed at this institution) At 8. 10am I walked... Our intern had been on call the previous night so she did not join us. I saw 17 patients throughout the day, in addition to three call backs. Call backs are patients that I had seen in admissions the previous Thursday when I was.
I hop out of my front door, putting my best feet forward, and board my sturdy ’96 Civic. Three green lights and one insufferably long red later, I park my Honda, which I yesterday washed, waxed, and detailed, and I pause to admire the building’s façade: Even with the punched out “I,” I feel accepted, identified, validated. my view of the world is raised to that of the bird’s eye above my 5’9” frame. a member of an aggregate that decidedly decimates apathy in a staring contest each Monday morning. I notice a larger man across the room staring at me, through me, around me. His cold eyes have me trapped in a walk-in freezer, the walls of which have slowly begun to compress. I even try slouching out of his immediate view. Invited to find another seat, I choose one at the corner of the table rather than at the head, so as to appear sure of myself, yet unassuming. She tells me the company orientation will begin momentarily, and I notice on the table a pair of noise-cancelling headphones and a sack lunch, complete with a children’s drink and bendy straw that I will believe glows in the dark until proven wrong. The door closes and the miniature movie screen lights up, wrapping me into a cinematic feature entitled “First Exchanges: A History. ” I find myself surprisingly engrossed in the multifarious innovations, the prescient and disruptive technology, and the unbridled genius that efficiently connects students and host families across the globe: First Exchanges.
