The next generation of hospital beds is in place at San Antonio's Southwest General Hospital, and a system containing electronic sensors that allow hospital patients to be protected from falls without bulky rails which interfere with care and... "One of the major areas that we needed assistance with was to acquire new beds," Chief Nursing Officer Sara Humme told News Radio 1200 WOAI's Michael Board about the goals of the new beds. "Promote patient comfort, prevent pressure ulcers, as well as being able to assist nurses from a staff safety situation when it comes to moving patients. Many high risk patients forget that they need help moving from bed to chair or bed to the bathroom, and this technology is like having nurses' eyes on them around the clock. In addition to the new high-tech beds, the hospital has also installed a state of the art patient monitoring system that includes cameras and sensors linked to a computer at the nurse's station to allow remove bedside monitoring. The beds also offer a motorized travel feature so the nurses are not putting as much stress on their backs while moving patients to and from other locations within the hospital.
WWDC 2015, being held from June 8 to 12, hosts developers for a look ahead at what's to come in software for iPhones, iPads, computers and the Apple Watch. The company was also expected to make a big announcement about launching a heretofore (mostly) hush-hush music streaming service to take on the likes of Spotify. Tim Cook saved that big announcement for last: The streaming service -- dubbed Apple Music -- will come to iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad later this month. He said that the new OS X would bring "a whole bunch of new capabilities to the Macintosh, and today we're bring native apps to the Watch with a new version of the Watch OS which gives the developers even more time to create even greater apps for... Then he added, "I'm going to dispense with my normal updates other than to tell you everything's going great," and introduced Senior VP of Software Engineering Craig Federighi to talk about the next version of OS X, the operating system for Macs,... The successor to Yosemite boasts a new Mission Control interface and the ability to do a "split view" that snaps windows to either the right or left, making it easier to see two side-by-side. The new Safari will address an annoying problem that comes up more and more as sites add auto-play video and video ads: Hearing audio and not knowing where it's coming from.
(NEW YORK) — The Apple Watch has been gracing the wrists of early adopters for two months but there’s already talk about what to expect from a future edition of the wearable. While Apple hasn’t discussed a second generation of the Apple Watch, observers of the company believe an Apple Watch 2. 0 could make its debut next year, building on the successes of the first edition but with even more fleshed out features. One of the most requested features is for the Apple Watch to be able to have more functionality independent of a user’s iPhone, which is tethered to the first generation of the device. Having the watch hooked up to WiFi would also enable a “Find My Watch” feature 9to5Mac reported is being developed. Apple unveiled its plans for a second edition of its Apple Watch operating system earlier this month at the Worldwide Developer’s Conference. While it’s important to note Apple has not publicly commented on a second generation Apple Watch, the company did show it was rapidly moving forward with new innovations for the wearable. At the Worldwide Developers Conference earlier this month, Apple CEO Tim Cook announced the company is bringing an updated watchOS to developers, allowing them to bring native apps to the wearable device.
