The clock is two pieces on a hinge that comes folded in half, and ends up having the feel of a cheap wrought-iron fence even after it's attached to the center section. Once it's hung on the wall, though, it's stable enough. Mine ended up being slightly warped, so part of it sticks out from the wall. This doesn't seem to interfere with the clock mechanism, it's not noticeable from a distance, and it even sort of fits with the rustic aesthetic, so I don't mind.
What I did mind, however, was that the central movement (the actual clock mechanism in the center that the hands attach to) was broken when the clock arrived, probably from whatever trauma caused the clock itself to be bent. I arranged to return it to Amazon, but changed my mind after I found that I could replace the mechanism for only a few bucks with a part from a local hobby store: Walnut Hollow Clock Movement w/Hands 3/8"
All in all, I think the clock itself is fine for the price, and works well if you need a big old-timey clock for a big wall, but given how poor the packaging is and how fragile the clock itself feels, it's almost impossible to imagine it *not* arriving damaged. If you do order this clock, open the box carefully, because you'll probably need to send it back.
