Fifty years ago I traveled from Mississippi to Selma, Alabama on March 21st, 1965 to join Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and thousands of fellow citizens marching the 54 miles to the steps of the state’s capitol in Montgomery. Selma was the site of a courageous voting rights campaign by Black citizens which was met by brutal Southern Jim Crow law enforcement and citizen violence. The nation was shocked two weeks earlier when John Lewis and Reverend Hosea Williams set out on a nonviolent march with a group of 600 people toward Montgomery to demand their right to vote and were brutally attacked by lawless state and local law... It provoked the thousands of us (ultimately about 25,000) who came together later to finish the march, safer thanks to Federal District Court Judge Frank M. Johnson, Jr. ’s order that we had a right to peaceful protest and with National Guard... And we were buoyed by President Johnson’s March 15th, 1965 address calling on Congress to pass what became the Voting Rights Act of 1965. In that speech—“ The American Promise ”—President Johnson said: “This was the first nation in the history of...
We are still waiting for the marble flooring to arrive from Europe before much else can happen (i. e. the kitchen can not go in until the wooden floors are down, and the wooden floors can't go down until the marble has been laid, cut, and polished... Above: The last French door has been placed, and the cornicing has been put up. On top of the cornicing (crown molding) there will be controlled LED strip lighting. This will be set to a gentle incandescent glow, which will light up the coved ceiling (or which could also be set to any colour or constantly changing pattern of colours depending on client's wishes). The door on the right is the entrance to the Brideshead Suite, while the door on the left goes through to a private hallway to both studies and the master suite. We will likely place a small arrangement of furniture, such as two arm chairs and a coffee table in the piano shaped area, with a grandfather clock to the left of our hallway door.
Adam’s about to discover how much drama a mid-life crisis can be. He’s obsessed with Mannix, the nude model in his art class. As things begin to heat up, Adam’s guardian angel, Guy, steps in. But what’s the best way to save the relationship. The book starts right off into the heat and romance and I was having images involving bathtubs and guardian angels that I never thought I'd have in my life. Unfortunately, dreams and images is all it is because it's just one of our lead's Adam fantasizing about a model in art class. He is a talented artist however, and manages to use his skills and finish the class. Mannix, the model, is a smirkingly confident, yet somewhat average guy but he enthralls the majority of the class. Side characters seemed slightly off for me. There were a lot of random cute guys or brief encounters with other people who had little to nothing to do with the main story. It would have been nice to see some kind of character or multiple characters be able to fit into the story instead of the random assortment of brief, flashes of characters that popped in and out. "And that soft tuft of brown hair leading towards his.
