Several training camps will be kicking off at the end of this month, and by the beginning of August (August 9, to be exact), the 2015 preseason will officially be upon us. . Unfortunately, this still leaves us with a few weeks to kill before any... Just because there isn't a lot happening on the football field doesn't mean there is nothing to talk about. Whether it's a potential camp battle, contract negotiations or an off-field incident, every NFL team has a current and relevant topic for discussion at this point in the summer. We're going to take a look at the latest and most up-to-date talking point for each team, as of mid-July, and give our take on what it could mean for the upcoming football season. Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer missed 10 games because of injury last season and was eventually shelved with a torn ACL. The Cardinals still managed to win 11 games, but Palmer was brilliant (11 touchdowns, three interceptions, passer rating of 95. 6) in his six appearances. I’m full go in the weight room, full go on the field, and until it’s brought up, I haven’t thought about what I'm not doing because I’m doing everything I was doing. There is apparently plenty of "doing" when it comes to Palmer this offseason, which is fantastic news for a guy who is.
[I am] happy with where we’re at and looking forward to where we’re going. Do you feel fortunate that you made it through the spring without any major injuries and feel fortunate in general. It’s funny you ask that, because I was thinking about and reading about luck a little bit and good fortune. You feel fortunate every day when you’re out here, and you feel fortunate to be around the kind of players we’re around. Part of it is just take more chances, take advantage of more opportunities, do more, work more, act on more things, talk to more people, build more relationships. It’s amazing how much luck you have when you do those kinds of things, so we feel very lucky every single day. John, is the groundwork in place for a successful training camp, and what things do you think you’ll be looking at come late July. (Dave Ginsburg) “The training camp is built, so we have the reps built and all the practices built. All the situations are built in, every football formation look type that we want to work on. You learn a lot in the OTAs in terms of what you’re going to be good at, you think, so you start steering in that direction a little bit more. And we’ll try to keep evolving from that, because we’re going to learn more as we go, and we’ll adjust as we go. But, I’m looking for the young guys to step up. Our young guys probably get more reps than I can imagine anybody else getting, so we...
And while Norris had good numbers in five Major League starts, going 1-1 with a 3. 86 ERA, he was assigned to Buffalo at the end of April. Most of his numbers while in Toronto were acceptable for a rookie starter if not particularly good: Norris posted a 1. 50 WHIP, averaging 4. 6 walks and 6. 9 strikeouts per nine innings. His biggest problem was his pitch count: Norris averaged 87. 8 pitches while lasting just 4. 2 innings per start. "I felt I was always in jams, but I was a competitor, so I worked hard to get out of them," Norris said. "They saw I was throwing a lot of pitches and not getting deep into games, so I'm working to stay out of jams and working deeper into games. I 100 percent understood it, and that's what I'm working on. ". Norris said his focus is on improving command of his repertoire, which includes four- and two-seam fastballs, a "cut" changeup and a "fade" change as well as a slider and curve. "I'd rather not get into a jam, but if I do get into a jam, I'd rather it be by giving up a couple of singles than by walking guys," Norris said. Second, you want to be around the zone, commanding the ball, because that gives you the better chance to get out of it. ". Buffalo manager Gary Allenson likes what he's seen from Norris in five starts this season.
