My beautiful baby girl is three months old today. I can't believe it. The last three months have been the most crazy, busy and wonderful months of my life. So here it is. November 1st- I woke up at 9 am this morning and went into the kitchen to have breakfast. It was the day after Halloween but surprisingly I went to bed at midnight the night before even though we had been to a Halloween party. Halloween night we were watching Juno and Casey said lets go to bed in the middle of the movie. That is very rare for Casey to ever want to stop a movie. (Minus getting up to to the bathroom tons of times throughout the night. I was a little sad that morning cause it was my due date and I was very anxious to have my baby girl. My pregnancy app that morning said “Try not to focus on waiting-- Less than 5% of women deliver on their due date. I didn't think much of it because while being pregnant weird things that I couldn't control were always happening to my body. So I went to the bathroom and cleaned up. When I came back out to the kitchen table, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. This time I thought more about it and said "Casey it happened again. Was this really happening. Casey and I got really excited and ran to the bathroom.
I journaled my experience several years ago and thought maybe others might benefit from reading my experience. The lure of losing the glasses was so strong that reason wasn’t the main part of the equation for me. I will say that I’m not as gung-ho to recommend it to others as I was in the months following - but so far my experience has ended well (but as... I have lived a life not seeing things as clearly as I would have liked (both literally and metaphorically - but today, we talk in the literal sense). I've learned to live with my vision as it is for many years. I walk with my hands in front of me and shuffle step my way past chairs, toys, and door jams at 3am on the way to the bathroom only to know for sure that I'm aiming true when I hear the water splash. I only see straight in front of me and have to turn my head, not just my eyes, to see things to the left or right of where I'm standing. So, if I've learned to live with it, why on earth would I go into a surgery where they will remove part of my cornea, blast away parts of my eye with a laser, and then put the cornea back in place. Trust me, I've asked myself that same question MANY times over the last several months. And, I think the answer boils down to a desire to change my life in some ways. In other words, I hope the clarity I get from such a life altering event will extend past the literal.
