The direct Sony CD group contains two ICF-CD815 offers, one ICF-CD831, and two marketplace offers for ICF-CD855V. That is three model families across five cards, not five different Sony models. The renewed and legacy ICF-CD815 cards have different condition and warranty evidence, while the two used ICF-CD855V offers disclose different testing and cosmetic details.

Five other cards need qualification. Sony B00M36S2HC is an AM/FM alarm clock whose captured title and description do not identify a CD mechanism. DreamSky adds FM without disc playback, and Lesipee has neither radio nor CD. The two KUEPHOM units do play CDs but are not Sony. Start with the case label, model number, disc function, and individual condition. This keeps a non-CD Sony clock or a feature-rich non-Sony alternative from being treated as an exact Sony CD-clock match.

The two ICF-CD815 records have the fullest feature evidence, but they are not interchangeable offers. The renewed card lists CD-R/RW playback, a portable-player input, dual alarms, three display brightness levels, 10-to-60-minute snooze, saved dimensions, and a 90-day limited warranty. The separate legacy card adds MP3 playback and a 3.5-millimeter cable in its saved description, while its battery inclusion and current warranty status remain uncertain.

ICF-CD831 is identified by its red case, CD player, AM/FM radio, and dual alarms, but its offer omits dimensions, backup, display, disc compatibility, and testing detail. Both ICF-CD855V cards state CD and radio functions; one broadly says fully tested, while the other specifically mentions working buttons and CD playback plus discoloration. Neither documents every alarm, tuner, display, or backup function. Ask model-specific questions rather than transferring ICF-CD815 specifications across the Dream Machine line.

The Walmart KUEPHOM and Amazon W12 add functions absent from the captured Sony records: Bluetooth, USB playback or connectivity, USB charging, remote control, dual alarms, sleep timing, dimming, and battery-backed settings. The Walmart description also states two 1.5-watt speakers, up to 30 FM presets, FAT32 USB support, a 5-volt 2.1-amp charging port, and a compact 7.3-inch-square case. Amazon identifies model W12 and gives a larger nine-by-eight-inch footprint.

Similar feature lists do not prove that the offers use the same hardware revision. Compare model and package labels, supported CD formats, Bluetooth version, USB purpose, alarm-source choices, remote and its battery, adapter voltage, speaker rating, display blackout, and warranty provider. These are reasonable alternatives for buyers who value current connectivity more than Sony branding or a particular Dream Machine model. Still, they should remain labeled as non-Sony options rather than substitutes with assumed feature parity.

Legacy and renewed CD clock radios contain mechanical and electronic failure points that a title cannot resolve. For either ICF-CD815 offer and both used ICF-CD855V units, inspect actual photographs and ask about disc loading, skipping, lid or hinge condition, button response, tuner reception, speaker distortion, display segments, dimming, both alarms, snooze, cord damage, discoloration, repairs, odors, and serial or voltage labels. Confirm the refurbisher and 90-day warranty provider for the renewed ICF-CD815.

Backup language needs a narrow reading. KUEPHOM describes AA cells that preserve time and alarm settings; DreamSky calls three AAA cells short-term backup; the Sony records do not document full outage operation. None of those statements promises radio, CD, speaker, or bright-display use without mains power. Compare demonstrated functions, accessories, cosmetic condition, packing around the disc lid, delivery-damage procedure, return acceptance, return freight, warranty coverage, and the cost of a current CD-capable alternative.
