The menu at Hot Dynasty is big. No, not that big — think bigger, much bigger. Hyperbole aside, the massive menu clocks in at 249 dishes roughly divided into 11 categories and featuring almost every imaginable creature from land and sea, including rabbit and frog. Those dishes don't include lunch options nor drinks, which include beer and wine plus more than 50 other options from the adjoining Tea Factory, which serves up boba, coconut jelly and yogurt drinks, juices, fresh teas, and honey and fruit teas. The focus of Hot Dynasty, if that's even a credible proposition at this point, is bold and spicy Sichuan cuisine. On my first visit, not a single employee could be found, from the host stand to restaurant floor. With the setting sun flowing through the restaurant's floor-to-ceiling windows, glowing over the myriad festooned Chinese paper lanterns and decorations, it's all rather pleasing on the eye. There's a mix of booths, large tables for family-style dining and a counter where you can inspect a number of the "cold appetizers," available à la carte, two for $9. 95 or three for $10. 95. If the mood strikes, I'd recommend the terrifically...
I had already explained that the sport versions would make me feel like I was wearing an iPhone 5C and that wasn't quite my rhythm. This was the young man who would undoubtedly inspire my passion for watches (I don't wear one) and make my wrist feel like a flower has bloomed from the fertilizer of my little hairs. He then helped me wrap the magnetized leather around my wrist. However, when I tried to push the button on the side and turn the little wheel (or, as neo-classical watchmaker Jony Ive calls it, the digital crown), nothing happened. "Oh, it doesn't work," said Tony (I will not reveal his real name, for hopefully obvious reasons). This was 11:15 a. m. on a Monday, but he was acting like it was 7:30 and the garbage truck had woken him up. I was therefore left to imagine what my wrist would look like with Mickey Mouse perched upon it in a rather fetching casing. "But I'd like to get it to work," I said, in what I hoped was a pleasingly quiet but pleadingly firm voice. I pressed the side button to see where my contacts would be (there was one name in there as an example). Tony invited me to send an emoji. Tony was perplexed, but not so perplexed that he really wanted to solve the problem. He poked it a little bit and then gave up, muttering: "It should work.
After months of speculation following the company's September unveiling of the gadget, Apple dished out more details about its smartwatch Monday at its special "Spring Forward" launch event at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco... Apple Watch -- slated to ship April 24 -- is the company's first device in a new product category since the iPad tablet was introduced in 2010. "Apple Watch is the most personal device we have ever created," Apple CEO Tim Cook said onstage,... Cook called Apple Watch "the most advanced timepiece ever created. " Pre-orders for the device start on April 10. Yet the most important question going into Monday's event, however, was how much Apple Watch is going cost. The aluminum and glass Apple Watch Sport with a plastic band starts at $349 or $400 for a model with a larger casing, while the stainless steel mid-tier model will start at $550 and go as high as $1,100 depending on what band it's paired with. The highest-end model, the 18-karat gold Apple Watch Edition, will start at $10,000 and goes as high as $17,000 when paired with Apple's gold-laden buckle. But Apple went even further in Apple Watch's creation -- developing what Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty called a "Swiss Army Knife" sort of wearable.
