Top 10 Of The Best Skyscan Atomic Clocks
Separate Two SkyScan Offers from Eight Alternatives
Only the first two final cards explicitly carry the SkyScan brand. Both are sparse eBay offers for silver digital radio-controlled clocks, and neither supplies a model number, full dimensions, battery requirement, or item-specific condition report. One is presented mainly as a wall clock with temperature or weather wording; the other adds desk placement, date, and temperature. The excerpts do not prove that they are the same model.
The other eight cards are alternatives: LFF, Soobest SO806, an unidentified T-4682-189 clock, black and silver Sharp variants, WallarGe, DAYTITOR, and Marathon CL030052BK. Sharp contributes two marketplace identities with the same stated size and sensor system, while the remaining designs are distinct. Buyers replacing a SkyScan should request label and control photographs. Buyers choosing by function can compare backlight, supported zones, sensor scope, display size, alarm features, mounting, and required cells.
Separate Sharp Color Variants from Distinct Alternative Designs
The black and silver Sharp cards share an 8.75-by-7.9-inch main unit, three-inch time digits, wall hanger, integrated stand, indoor reading, and wireless outdoor-temperature sensor. Each main clock uses three AA cells and each sensor two AAA cells. Their stated transmission range is 100 feet. Treat them as color variants with separate marketplace identities, not as evidence of two different feature sets.
The remaining alternatives should stay distinct. LFF has the largest specified body at 15 inches and adds indoor and outdoor humidity, eight zones, and a 328-foot sensor claim. Soobest is an 8.5-inch brown clock with automatic night lighting but no outdoor sensor. WallarGe measures 10.6 by 7 inches in saved fields and is indoor-only. DAYTITOR combines a 10.5-inch LCD with a 330-foot claim, while Marathon emphasizes ambient lighting, six zones, and seven languages. Do not transfer one listing's specifications to another.
Choose Night Visibility Zone Coverage and Sensor Scope
Soobest gives the clearest detailed lighting controls: a button activates 30 seconds of backlight, and a darkness sensor can run a low- or high-level nightlight. Marathon also uses an ambient-light sensor for a soft backlight, but its threshold, brightness, and duration are not stated. LFF, WallarGe, and the unidentified slim clock explicitly lack a backlight. Sharp, DAYTITOR, and both SkyScan excerpts leave lighting behavior unstated.
Zone coverage differs just as much. LFF lists eight North American zones; Marathon lists six from Pacific through Newfoundland; Soobest, WallarGe, and DAYTITOR list four continental zones. The other records do not provide a zone list. For outdoor readings, Sharp claims 100 feet, LFF 328 feet, and DAYTITOR 330 feet with support for three sensors. Walls can reduce all quoted ranges. Only LFF states IPX4 splash resistance, which still calls for protected placement rather than direct rain.
Inspect SkyScan Condition and Verify Every Package
For either SkyScan offer, request clear photographs of the display, rear model label, battery compartment, controls, stand or hanger, and any wireless sensor. Ask the seller to demonstrate every display segment, button response, manual setting, WWVB synchronization, and temperature reading. Check for corrosion, cracked plastic, missing covers, fading, repairs, and damage because the captured descriptions do not establish condition or accessories.
Battery and package needs are also uneven. LFF uses four AA plus two AAA cells; Soobest uses three AA; the unidentified clock uses two AAA; each Sharp set uses three AA plus two AAA; WallarGe uses three AA; and DAYTITOR uses three AA plus two AA. Marathon and both SkyScan offers omit battery details. DAYTITOR names two brackets and three hanging holes but does not clearly enumerate sensor contents. Confirm the exact model, case dimensions, cells, sensor, stand, hanger, manual, warranty provider, packing, returns, and return freight before ordering.
